# Flashcards for anything you want to remember

## Why flashcards work

A flashcard asks you a question and makes you answer it from memory. That small effort (called active recall) is what makes knowledge stick. Reading a list feels productive; answering a card actually is.

Toly keeps the good part and removes the tedious part. You never format a card or copy a definition. You type the word, Toly writes the back, and you spend your time remembering.

## What makes a Toly card

## One deck per subject

Keep a deck for each language, class, or exam. Every deck shows what’s due and how far along you are, so you always know where to spend the next five minutes.

- Pick an emoji for each deck.
- Filter a deck by Learning or Mastered.
- Sync every deck across your Apple devices with iCloud.

## Review in a few minutes a day

Look at the front, try to remember, then show the answer. Tell Toly how it went (Again or Got it), and it plans the next review for you.

## Questions

### How is Toly different from paper flashcards?

Paper cards don’t know when you’re about to forget. Toly schedules every card for you and writes the back, so making and reviewing cards takes a fraction of the time.

### Can I write my own cards?

Yes. Turn off the AI toggle in the New card sheet and type the back yourself, or edit any card Toly wrote.

### Is there a limit on cards?

The free plan includes 3 AI cards a day and up to 3 decks. Toly PRO has unlimited decks and cards.

### Does Toly have ready-made decks?

No. Every deck is yours: you choose what goes in, and Toly writes the cards.
